Tara Matthews
A dynamic and fresh voice for Sevenoaks and Swanley
Tara Matthews is the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Sevenoaks and Swanley.
Tara trained as a barrister before building a career in public policy in central government and at Ofcom.
She has loved Sevenoaks and the local area since being at school here as a teenager. She’s visiting towns and villages across our constituency every week to hear first-hand about the issues and priorities that matter most to people; she’s spoken with hundreds of local residents already and looks forward to meeting and hearing from many more in the months to come.
Tara’s passionate about people having a greater say over the decisions that affect their lives - listening to what matters to them, helping to fix things and having faith in individuals and communities to know what’s best for them.
She grew up in Italy and went to a French school, becoming trilingual at a young age. Early in her career, she also lived and worked in Brussels. She is the daughter of an economist and an NHS nurse and was raised with a strong public service ethos. When she can find the time she enjoys cross-country running, hiking and tackling assault courses for charity.
“I believe the Liberal Democrats offer the only positive vision for Sevenoaks & Swanley. We stand for a fairer, greener and more united Britain. We offer change without the chaos and division of Reform, the failure of the Conservatives, and the disappointment that is the Labour Government. I know many wish to see real change here at the next election and we want to deliver it for them.”
